Facebook makes it easy to boost a post.
1. Select the post you want to boost
Go to your Facebook page and find the post you want to promote. You should see a "Boost Post" button at the bottom of the post.
2. Choose your advertising goal
The first option will ask Facebook’s algorithm to show the display of your ad to the people most likely to click on the link. The second option requires you to give priority to the people who are most likely to get involved in posting on Facebook.
3. Define your audience
There are three options for the audience:
- People you choose by targeting
- People who love your Facebook Page
- People who love your Facebook Page and their friends
Each type of audience has its advantages and your choice should depend on your advertising goal. If your goal is to raise awareness about your brand, you can create a totally cool audience using your audience survey, with the first option. If your goal is solely commitment, you can choose another option. The third option can be good for both attracting and reaching a cold audience, albeit with less control.
Unfortunately, you can’t push a Facebook post to a personalized or similar audience. To do this, you'll need to get started with Ad Manager and create your campaign in the traditional way, and when you create your ad, select the 'use existing posting' option.
4. Select where you want your ad to appear.
Facebook allows some flexibility with your channels, which means where your ad appears. When you promote your post on Facebook, you can leave the default settings on automatic channels, which means that Facebook’s algorithm will show your ad wherever it achieves the best results. for your stated advertising goal.
You can also choose to turn off this automatic setting and deselect Messenger and/or Instagram settings. However, you won’t be able to deselect Instagram or Facebook Stories - it’s all or nothing.
5. Determine the duration and budget for post-promotion
The last step is to decide how long you want your promoted post to be optimized and how much you want to spend on it.
After completing these settings, Facebook will show you an estimate of the number of people who will reach your optimized post and how much you will spend on average per day.
When all is well, click the "Boost" button and you will successfully promote your post on Facebook.
